Chapter 7 Configuring Interface Characteristics
Monitoring and Maintaining the Interfaces
Use the no shutdown interface configuration command to restart the interface.
This example shows how to shut down a port:
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# interface gigabitethernet0/17
Switch(config-if)# shutdown
Switch(config-if)#

This example shows how to re-enable a port:
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# interface gigabitethernet0/17
Switch(config-if)# no shutdown

To verify that an interface is disabled, enter the show interfaces privileged EXEC command. A disabled
interface appears as administratively down in the show interfaces command output.
